Japan National Committee visit to MGML schools

Members from Japan National Committee, one of the UNICEF funding partners, visited MGML Project schools of Titabor and Jorhat Educational block of Jorhat district. The main objectives of the partners visit is to see and understand the programme implementation process as well as the key challenges being faced and outcomes of the intervention being supported by them in MGML Project school. The five member team who visited were Hiroko Nakano.Hirusuke Mihara.Akiyo Beniya.Mayumi Nishi Kawa..Junko Yamashita and Shewta Dahiya,from UNICEF,New DElhi

The team was assissted by Mrs. Chhaya Konwar , education officer of UNICEF Assam. The team was guided to schools by Mr. Uttam Kumar Bordoloi ,Principal DIET Jorhat, Titabor Mrs. Krishna Dutta Deka,Senior Lecturer Cum Progamme Coordinator MGML project. and Mr. Parash Goswami the District Programme Officer Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Mission, Jorhat district.

The team visited three schools of Titabar Educational Block and one school from Jorhat block. Boramari Adarsha LP School, 515 No Kachukhat Adarsha LP school 515 No Kachukhat Adarsha LP school Nehru LP School and Kachari Gaon L.P School They observed classroom Learning process (MGML), cooking and serving of Mid Day Meal, toilet and drinking water facilities in schools. The members interacted with community members, Mothers Group and School Managing Committee.

Some of the questions asked were related to the :-

  1. Practical side of MGML
  2. Internal structure and education system as a whole
  3. Efficacy of MGML
  4. Curriculum structure and Course content
  5. Role of DIET, SCERT
  6. Role of Mothers Group and SMC in supporting school
  7. Project Facilitators on site support to schools

Outcome of the visit
The entire MGML project team including schools have taken this as a honour that a team from outside our country has come to evaluate our performance. It also helped us to reposition our future priorities and we are now very clear about how to prepare the background in three areas of operation- The early grade ,The primary and teacher development. The team visit has boost up the spirit and the entire MGML team has resolved to work with strength and vigor.

Founded in year 1989, DIET JORHAT is located at Jorhat, Assam. It is an Institute affiliated to Dibrugarh University approved by National Council Of Teacher Education, India. The Institute offers Diploma courses and Bachelor Degree in various disciplines like Education. It offers Courses like D.El.Ed. , B.Ed., ODL.
